There are many challenges in feeding an electricity hungry future world. With the growing focus on “everything electric” begs a need to sharpen our focus on power surety.  This presentation, by experts in the power system industry, will detail the increasing need to expand the architecture of the power grid, and by extension, its users power systems behind the meter to include alternate local generation, energy storage, final distribution and load management via the inclusion of microgrids. The experts will cover the expected impact on both system resiliency and reliability of both individual, as well as interconnected microgrids, in local neighborhood and community grids.  The discussion will include local area microgrid networks based on non-synchronous direct current interconnection.
