ALEXANDRIA, VA and SEATTLE, WA (October 7, 2024) – The Consortium for Hydrogen and Renewably Generated E-Fuels (CHARGE), a program of Washington State University, and RE+ Events, producer of RE+, the largest clean energy event in North America, will partner to produce RE+ CHARGE H2, a hydrogen conference in Seattle, Washington, November 20 – 21.

The RE+ CHARGE H2 conference is unique among hydrogen events with a focused program featuring topics directly related to hydrogen hubs and valleys. A sampling of session topics includes:

  • Securing the Supply Chain: Critical Minerals for Hydrogen Innovation
  • Getting Granular: The Effect of State and Local Policies on the Hydrogen Economy
  • Looking Ahead: Synchronous Deployment of Supply, Demand, and Infrastructure
  • Identifying Opportunities to Produce Non-electrolytic Hydrogen
  • Tribal Communities Pursuing Clean Energy: Adding Hydrogen to the Mix

“CHARGE is active in the development of a hydrogen economy in the Pacific Northwest, and we recognize the value of bringing stakeholders together to talk about key issues and how they relate to emerging hydrogen hubs,” said Dr. Aaron Feaver, CHARGE founder, Director of the Joint Center for Deployment and Research in Earth Abundant Materials (JCDREAM) and Pacific Northwest Hydrogen Association board member. “We wanted to create an event that enables us to look beyond specific projects, and focus on the larger and broader issues for hydrogen hubs and valleys, here and across the globe.”

“Hydrogen has a significant role to play in the energy transition, and it has been a part of the RE+ agenda for more than seven years.” said Stephen Miner, President and CEO, RE+ Events. “And now, we see a need and value for a unique conference that is organized and supported by trusted convenors, including CHARGE, RE+ Events, SEIA, and SEPA, and backed by respected hydrogen organizations.”

“The Pacific Northwest is fast becoming a nexus for hydrogen development, and RE+ CHARGE H2 is an opportunity to bring together our regional stakeholders along with others in the hydrogen industry, academia and government to engage with and learn from each other,” said Chris Green, President of the Pacific Northwest Hydrogen Association.

“Building out a clean hydrogen ecosystem across Washington, Oregon and Montana is a large-scale effort that is backed by the support of labor, private industry, Tribal Nations and the public sector. These opportunities for cross-industry collaboration are critical as we embark on Phase 1 of the PNWH2 Hub and begin the process of bringing clean energy and quality jobs to communities across the region,” he said.

RE+ CHARGE H2 also has the support of the hydrogen industry associations and organizations across the United States.

Supporting partners of RE+ CHARGE H2 include the Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA) and the Smart Electric Power Alliance (SEPA), owners of RE+ Events, the California Hydrogen Business Council, the California Hydrogen Coalition, Clean Hydrogen Future Coalition, Hydrogen Fuel Cell Partnership, Renewable Hydrogen Alliance,  Texas Hydrogen Alliance and Washington Maritime Blue.
