Microgrid Operations, Monitoring and Maintenance

July 24, 2024

Wednesday, July 24, 2024 | 2:00 pm – 3:00 pm

The session will explore monitoring and data acquisition service and solutions across multi-vendor power system platforms for Data Center, Cable / Broadband, Hospital / Healthcare, Education / Campus, Manufacturing / Industrial, Corporate, Government / Military, and other complex mission critical facilities. The tools demonstrated can provide true real time situational awareness and insight to provide operators with critical information to address system availability across the facility or facilities.  The approach integrates advanced energy analytics, asset management and facility monitoring tools with advanced analytics to increase visibility, improve overall efficiency, reduce costs and eliminate risk while increasing efficiency, power continuity and system resilience.

A special focus of the webinar will be on DC & Hybrid AC/DC Microgrids. DC Coupled Microgrids take advantage of new technologies to allow for the delivery of safe high voltage direct current.  Given the fact that renewable energy solutions produce DC energy that must be converted or rectified to AC current creating significant energy loss, and most storage solutions store DC power, DC Coupled Microgrids are highly cost effective.  Properly implemented they can offer facilities requiring consistent, continuous, reliable power, and desire increased efficiency and a lower carbon footprint a very attractive alternative. Monitoring tools can diagnose the behavior and characteristics of every device in the microgrid in real time, collects the historical data, and then utilizes state-of-the-art data analytics.  While providing an audit trail of usage on each device on the system, it allows the user to better understand the complex interrelationships between devices in the microgrid and run true “what if” scenarios and exercise control more intelligently.
